Consumers Questions about 3rd Party Electrical Suppliers in New Jersey

Great article today in the Newark Star Ledger in NJ.  The article offers a Q&A on third party electrical suppliers in NJ.    One question  refers to how do you know which 3rd party electrical supplier to choose? There are so many of these companies out there now, here is some food for thought.
Make sure you compare your winter and summer KWH rates that you pay vs what you are being offered.  Also watch for the terms and conditions....If the rate goes up and you want to get out is there a cancellation fee?

These are great things to consider if you are interested in switching 3rd party electrical suppliers.  There are companies that do not make you sign a contract and a cancellation fee.

Don't Be Fooled by the Bait and Switch

There are several 3rd Party Electric Suppliers starting up as of late.  Offering a lower rate on your electric while keeping your current utility.  Don't be fooled... all 3rd Party Suppliers are not created equal.  There are those that may even offer you a gift card to sign up but with them you will need to sign a contract for a certain period of time  and a LARGE cancelation fee if you cancel with them.  You also have to ask What is their green content?

If you are thinking of switching electric suppliers while keeping your current utility for service and billing...go with a supplier that lets you sign up for FREE....and lets you terminate  for FREE.  The rate you pay is variable wholesale rate your price is a percentage of the wholesale cost you there is a savings built in.  You also want to go with a company that has a high "green" content.  A company that has a 20% green content with its basic plan is already meeting the year 2020 federal regulations for green content by a utility.

You have a right to choose with deregulation....DON"T BE FOOLED BY THE BAIT AND SWITCH.
